We're not sure what "Hog Gushin" is, but we sure dig this track -- plenty of fast, tight drums on the intro -- then blasting horns that vamp along with the rhythms in a JB-styled mode! The track steps with a speed that few funky combos could hope to match -- but never lets the pace get in the way of the heavy funk that's the best calling card of the group! "The Weed" is slower and snakier -- a track with some muddy soul vocals that make for a nice contrast to the a-side -- plus more of those great horns in the back!

"Brighton funkateers come correct yet again with another hefty slice of raw live funk. Just check the rousing middle section Hog Gushin for evidence that this Brit funk can match anything US compatrioits the Dapkings and Breakestra can produce. Flip for the weed for the vocally inclined amongst you. This is an equally as accomplished funk gem more reminiscent of a JBs groove with a belting vocal performance. Some of the best new funk we have heard in a long time, which generously tips it hat to the pioneers without ever sounding derivative. And best of all its British."
